Custom Agents

Custom Agents are Agently’s most flexible and powerful solution—giving users full control over how AI operates within their business. These agents are designed to be built from the ground up using Agently’s no-code creation flow, enabling teams to define precise behavior, tone, data access, and deployment logic without writing a single line of code.

Unlike Prebuilt Solutions, which are fixed to one environment and purpose, Custom Agents can be shaped to meet any operational requirement and deployed across multiple environments simultaneously. They’re ideal for organizations that need tailored workflows, internal tools, branded user-facing experiences, or multi-role AI deployments.

The creation process begins by selecting a category, which sets the structural foundation of the agent. Categories guide the configuration experience by suggesting relevant tools, prompting appropriate behavior defaults, and organizing agents by function across the workspace.

Key Characteristics

  • Category-Driven Architecture Every Custom Agent starts with a selected category—such as Customer Support, Sales, Internal Ops, Knowledge Access, or Onboarding. This informs the logic scaffold, tooling recommendations, and behavioral presets applied during creation. Categories also make it easy to manage, filter, and scale agents across growing workspaces.

  • Comprehensive Configuration Users are guided through an end-to-end configuration interface where they define the agent’s tone of voice, personality, knowledge base, tools, response logic, and fallback behavior. This includes nuanced control over how the agent greets users, handles gaps in data, escalates when needed, or handles sensitive queries.

  • Contextual Data Integration Agents can be connected to custom datasets, live knowledge sources, internal documents, platform APIs, or structured content libraries. This ensures responses are grounded in your business logic and stay relevant as your operations evolve.

  • Advanced Tooling & Functional Modules Based on category, users can activate tool integrations ranging from CRM lookups and internal routing to webhook triggers, scheduling logic, and embedded task flows. These tools allow the agent to not only converse but execute tasks within defined scopes.

  • Multi-Channel Deployment After configuration, agents can be deployed across any number of supported environments, including:

    • Live Chat Widgets (Web, SaaS)

    • Messaging Platforms (Slack, Telegram, Discord)

    • Embedded Dashboards or Portals

    • APIs for custom backend integrations

    • Authenticated interfaces with user-specific logic

  • Workspace-Level Management Custom Agents can be edited, versioned, and monitored in real time from the Agently dashboard. Teams can duplicate agents, assign roles and permissions, and iterate across lifecycle stages—all without affecting production deployments.

Custom Agents offer a precise, scalable approach to AI system design. They enable organizations to bring AI into their operations in a way that reflects their brand, adapts to their workflows, and evolves with their needs. Whether you're building internal tools, support bots, onboarding guides, or automation layers, Custom Agents provide the depth, structure, and control to deploy meaningful AI with measurable outcomes.
